and I look into this cart full of soil and garden supplies and there’s literally a cat curled up on top of it like it owns the place. Just sleeping there, right on the bags, like this is some kind of pet bed instead of a store where people are supposed to shop.
So I go find an employee thinking surely this isn’t normal, and they just shrug and say it’s the “neighborhood cat” like that’s supposed to make it okay. No urgency, no attempt to move it, nothing. Meanwhile, this animal is just sitting there shedding all over products people are about to buy, and everyone’s acting like it’s some cute little feature of the store.
At that point I wasn’t about to wait around for someone to actually do their job, so I went back and shooed it off myself. I don’t care how friendly it is this isn’t a park, it’s a place that sells items people take home and use. The fact that customers are expected to just accept that is ridiculous.
I’m not coming back here again. If management thinks turning their store into a hangout spot for random animals is acceptable, then they clearly don’t care about basic hygiene or their customers. At some point it stops being cute and just becomes straight-up unsanitary, and I’m not spending money somewhere that treats that like it’s normal.
